These Will Be the Biggest Fashion Trends in 2018 — Are You Ready?

by - 4:53 AM

We're always looking a season ahead to find the next It item or trend. It's part of our DNA as fashion-lovers.

If you're like me, you've been paying close attention to what's been popular on the streets and runways this past Fashion Month — that's what gives us a good indication of what to expect in 2018.

Check Print

There's one print that's dominating fashion town, and that's checks. You'll find the design most frequently on blazers and trousers, but the detail has graduated from suit sets to asymmetrical tops and breezy skirts. It's time to mix the pattern with your other favorite: florals.

Etoile Isabel Marant Skirt
This Etoile Isabel Marant check print skirt ($250) is unlike any other thanks to the cute side bow.

Mango Trousers
Mango's check-print trousers ($50) are professional enough for the office.

Fringe
From Alexander Wang to Dior, the reemergence of fringe was fresh and fun. We spotted full-on fringe looks from dresses to coats and even accessories embellished with this finish. Before you say you're not a fan, just check out these runway outfits.

Free People Jacket
Twirl around and take a Boomerang in this Free People fringe jacket ($598).

Gucci Fringe Bag
Looking for a statement bag? You'll definitely want to add this Gucci piece ($820) to your collection.

Lavender
Soft shades of lavender and lilac popped up in Spring '18 shows such as Proenza Schouler and Victoria Beckham, and we couldn't be more pleased. The color is a nice change from millennial pink and looks great on every item. Don't believe us? Just check out the lavender selections being offered already.

Derek Lam Skirt
You don't need another black skirt. This purple option from Derek Lam ($2,490) is a bolder choice.

Tanya Taylor Top
This Tanya Taylor top ($295) is suitable for dressier occasions.

Utility Jumpsuits
For the ladies who live in their jumpsuits or rompers, we have good news for you. This one-and-done staple is coming back in full force next year with a utilitarian twist. The new silhouette draws inspiration from the classic flight suit and comes in boxy and boyish styles that have the perfect slouchy quality.

Rachel Comey Jumpsuit
For a one-and-done look, slip on this Rachel Comey jumpsuit ($448).

Oversize Jewelry
Let statement-making jewelry do all the talking come 2018. You'll feel a hint of the '80s thanks to oversize earrings and layered necklaces that seem to make accessorizing fun again. Whatever you do, skip the more delicate pieces in favor of bolder options.

Saint Laurent Earrings
For a pair of statement earrings, we'd highly recommend this Saint Laurent piece ($445).

Nasty Gal Choker
If you still love chokers, go with a star option from Nasty Gal ($10).

PVC Overload
Chanel did it best with its PVC-themed Spring '18 runway show. Everything from boots to coats received the clear treatment and looked wearable to us. If you're hesitant to try the trend, go easy first with a heel or bag.

Miu Miu PVC Trench Coat
There's simply nothing else to say about this Miu Miu coat ($2,055) other than it is damn cool.

Kendall + Kylie Boot
You don't have to spend a fortune on PVC booties — just select this option by Kendall + Kylie($185).

Daytime Sparkles
Glitter and sequins are usually reserved for nighttime festivities, but I'm here to tell you they're perfectly fine for daytime wear too. Let the natural light reflect off a shimmery skirt or top because there's no better way to stand out. Plus, now you don't have to worry about changing out of your 9-to-5 look.

H&M Skirt
Hurry and shop because this H&M sequin skirt ($70) won't be in stock for long.

Lovers + Friends x Revolve Bomber
Consider this Lovers + Friends x Revolve sequin bomber ($238) a day-to-night kind of piece.
